One day we came home and there, set up in the living room was a mini table and chairs with a tea set, filled with apple juice instead of tea, and those mini sandwiches that are always at a tea party. However, the chairs we used were not meant for anyone older then 9 and when I asked if we could do it again, she said that she couldn't do the mini furniture again.

One of the most important things that I didn't understand then was that my mom wasn't perfect. She had a disease in her fingers that turned them red, swollen, and damaged and she had to wear bandages constantly. Ever since I can remember her fingers always looked like that except in the pictures I saw of their wedding. When I asked her why her fingers looked the way they did she would tell me that she was a nail biter and that was what happened to fingers that were bitten.

Needless to say that terrified me into never biting my nails again. Even though I now know the truth, that image will never fail to scare me into not biting my nails.

When I was around five or six I learned how to use and then promptly dialled the number at a payphone in a restaurant and hung up after dialling. Little did I know that when you dial you automatically contact , no charges necessary but I definitely figured it out when they called back. A year later my mom fainted in the Family room. I started to panic and asked if I should call not grasping the fact that unconscious people can't respond. She came to quickly and replied that no, didn't need to be called but the experience still freaked me out.

Throughout my childhood my mom continued to have fainting spells, but I never really thought that something might be wrong with my mother; I had just assumed that everything would always work out in the end. When I was nine years old however, I learned the hard way that life wasn't fair. In early September, , the day of my parents anniversary, my dad came into my room at around 6: It was only after he left that I heard the screaming.

I ran into my parent's bedroom to the bathroom where the screaming was coming from, and found my mother on the floor screaming in pain. I was in shock, but then the ambulance had arrived. I let them in, answered their questions and they went upstairs to where my mom was. As they were coming down I could hear them asking my mom questions, which she didn't respond to since she was still screaming, when suddenly on the stairs she went quiet.

When they got to the bottom she was screaming again, the last words I ever heard her say was "ha cha cha cha" before she was silent forever. When my dad and I arrived at the hospital, we were led to a tiny room where we were told that my mother had passed away of a heart attack. At the age of nine I had become motherless. The funeral was held shortly after and I was enrolled in some therapy sessions to deal with the grief.
